Traxman, the originating Footwork DJ and Producer, is now constantly touring Europe, Asia, and the States. Member of Teklife and mastermind of Tekk Djz, he is most famous for his classic Da Mind Of Traxman series on Planet Mu. Also lately he has released some Ghetto-House tracks, too. There is a feature on UK's Albion Records and just another 6 track EP has been released on Berlin's Dizzy Tunes.
Traxman returns in full footwork battle glory with Slash Time - The Album, an extension or yet better an upgrade to the already highly acclaimed EP of the same name released in 2014 on Duck N' Cover. This is not "Da Mind Of Traxman Vol. 3", this is also not a follow up to "Tekliving", his great album on Lit City, this is Traxman's most personal and intimate album. Each of his releases so far has made people turn their heads, surprised and stunned at the same time, quality, soul, musicianship, and inspiration, this one is no different. Taking on a rough edge, this is an accurate time document of what it means to grow up, live, and DJ in the projects of Chicago. Beats and cuts sharp as a knife, snares and synths like gunfire. Five tracks feature his fellow Tekk Djz member and good friend, DJ Fred.
"The cornerstone, the holy grail of this album is the track "Taken A Trip You". I remember, when for the first time I heard Traxman's "Zone", a track released on a compilation a way back on Freshmoon Records, I was out of my mind. This track was clearly footwork, by BPM and drum patterns, but yet it was so raw, reduced and noisy, totally funky, fresh, and timeless, a style unheard. Immediately it reminded me of the best records that came out on Relief Records during the late nineties, DJ Boris, Markey, and so on, but this was a contemporary version of exactly this sound, one of my favorite techno/house subgenre ever. "Taken A Trip You" takes the principles of "Zone" even to the next level. Chicago style at its best. Play this stuff loud and see them go nuts."
"All the more I am totally excited about this album, this is the biggest compilation of this raw sound that has surfaced so far. There are plenty of super dry cuts on this album, "Unstoppable", "Lava", "Elektro Tekk", "Slash Time", and the magnificent tribal "I Like Two", all perfectly executed deadly weapons. But also for the fans of his soulful productions, there is a lot of really outstanding material to be found as well: "No Return", "No One Winz", "Da Best Thing I can Affar", "Survive", and the kushed-out outro "We On Mars", all bringing the classic vibe we all love so much. "She Take It.." is a naughty floor filler, "Boogie Woogie" is a banging house tool up-worked, as straight as "Who's Next On Tha Flow" is twisted, which is again one perfect example of a beat only Traxman will ever be able to craft. Enjoy this future classic as much as I do!"
